The Indian electric SUV market is getting more competitive, and now a new player has entered the scene. Vietnam’s auto brand VinFast has launched its first model in India, the VF6 electric SUV, starting at ₹16.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned in the midsize e-SUV segment, it will compete with the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV, MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv EV, and Mahindra BE 6.
Price and Variants
The VinFast VF6 is available in two trims. The base variant is priced at ₹16.49 lakh, while the top variant costs ₹18.29 lakh (ex-showroom). To keep prices competitive, the company is assembling the SUV locally at its Tamil Nadu plant.
Design and Exterior
The VF6 stands out with a bold and sporty design. It features full-width LED DRLs at the front and rear, 18-inch alloy wheels, a sloping roofline, and a dynamic SUV profile. With 190mm ground clearance, it is well-suited for Indian road conditions.
In terms of dimensions, the SUV measures 4241mm in length, 1834mm in width, and 1580mm in height, along with a 2730mm wheelbase. These proportions give it a strong road presence while ensuring enough cabin space.
Interior and Features
Step inside, and the VF6 welcomes you with a minimalist yet tech-rich cabin. Instead of a regular instrument cluster, it uses a heads-up display for essential driving information. The centerpiece is a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Premium features include a panoramic glass roof, ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a wireless charger, and connected car technology. The use of vegan leather seats adds a sustainable touch.
Safety Features
Safety is one of the biggest highlights of the VF6. It comes with 7 airbags as standard, along with Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System). Other safety additions include auto park assist, a 360-degree camera, an electronic parking brake, and rain-sensing wipers. Together, these make the VF6 one of the safest SUVs in its class.
Battery and Performance
The VF6 is powered by a 59.6 kWh battery pack paired with a front-mounted electric motor. It delivers 204hp and 310Nm of torque, enabling the SUV to accelerate from 0–100 km/h in just 8.9 seconds.
On a full charge, it offers an impressive 480 km driving range, making it practical for both city use and long trips. Charging options include 3.3kW/7.2kW AC charging and DC fast charging. The company also provides a 10-year or 2 lakh km battery warranty, which adds long-term peace of mind.
